Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Starting in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. All Pella® products meet or exceed ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. What does this mean for you? Not only could you see a drop with your heating and cooling charges, you’ll also help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are each specifically designed and custom-built for your home, meaning no two projects are alike. Our large variety of products make it hard to discuss pricing without first bearing in mind your wants and needs and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it helpful to send out a Pella sales representative who will give you a quoted project price after seeing the project site itself. To expedite the quoting procedure, your Pella® sales representative is equipped with a computer and a portable printer so that they can provide you with all the quote information you’ll need—once the sales representative has a chance to consider the requirements of the task and matches them with your vision.

In addition to offering a large range of first-rate products to choose from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you fantastic window and door products at affordable prices, giving you a chance to make the home improvements you want to while building great value into your Providence area home while you do it.

Can I paint my vinyl windows?

The advantage of Pella's® vinyl windows is that you don’t need to. You can choose the color your want. We do not advise painting your vinyl products, as this will end your warranty. Some paint companies advertise that their paint can stick to vinyl, but it could ruin your windows if the wrong paint is applied or done incorrectly.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We recommend that you should use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mix or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. Or you can make your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the solution to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. We do not recommend glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they could produce streaks or create a film that draws moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses dependable installers who are certified to install Pella doors and windows. They are required to complete a rigid set of training courses so that your windows and doors are correctly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty guidelines. We look for the best Providence-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before we hire anyone, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully protected by liability and workers compensation insurance. Beyond Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Pella provides services and support that “big box” stores can’t match. Our specialty is selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Using a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and expert installers means that you will have the strength of our whole team. We frequently use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. Simply contact our office, your sales representative, or our project manager with any questions or concerns you may have and we will get to work resolving the issue.

Why is Pella® the right choice for my home?
